1. 2 Professional Development
North Bay: 14% of our staff have participated in our Yearly North Bay trip in the past 2 years.
Students in 6th grade are proud to go and learn everything from stewardship to composting, taking healthy risks to team work. It is the field trip of a lifetime. Our staff immensely enjoys partnering with students and learning about connections between environment and environmental education. At North Bay the students learn about the "niche" that plants and animals have in our habitat and ecosystem and are asked to reflect about their own "niche" in the world around them; a beautiful metaphor for taking care in making good choices.
(Above) Each year the staff is excited to participate in the week long event.

North Bay Evidence of Professional Development
Community Clean-Up inspired by North Bay
(Above) The staff email asks teachers to prepare a community clean-up the spring following the North Bay trip from students. As noted the activity is planed as a follow-up based on the student learning that was shared with the fellow students at Henderson Hopkins as well as the administration and staff. We are proud to host this event again in the spring 2015 in June.
Staff Professional Development Continued

The meeting was comprised of 100% of our 21 teaching staff along with 04 3 administrators. Abbey Cocke from the Baltimore Office of Sustainability spoke about the details of the process and science teacher Ms. Warren from Lakeside Elementary came to share the work of her school with the staff.
